Matching histograms of two images
« on: 2020 January 13 06:04:23 »
I have been comparing different sharpening options, mostly within PI, but some others too. Usually different methods not only result in different amounts and 'types' of sharpening, but the also alter the overall distribution of color shades and brightnesses. Is there someway to 'match' these across images? (or at least come close to matching the brightness histograms?) I guess I'm looking for a histogram-transfer function or work-around for stretched images.

Thanks, Alex

I think I've solved it: Take the L from image to be changed and the a, b from the image to be matched. Combine these and the result has the sharpness of the former and the color and lightness of the latter. Comments?
