Can't update to 1.8.8-3?
« on: 2019 December 27 13:02:13 »
As I understand it, the latest version of PI is 1.8.8-3, but I seem to be stuck at 1.8.8.2. Running on OSX 10.14.6, going to “Resources->Updates->Check for updates” tells me that I have no updates. Looking at the installed version of PI shows it as 1.8.8-2. This behavior is identical on two machines. Any idea why I can’t get updated to 1.8.8-3, or am I missing something basic?

Why don't you simply download PI-macosx-x64-1.8.8-3-20191213-c.pkg from https://pixinsight.com/dist/browser.php

I could (and maybe will), but I was concerned about why PI didn't show an available update. An issue with the -2 to -3 update could indicate a potential problem with future updates, so I wanted to see if this was an issue or just some random disturbance in the force.

You should be receiving an email alerting you to the update. Then you will go to the web site and download the new version. You must uninstall previous version of PI before installing the new one.

Ah, now I see my mistake. I had assumed that this was a minor 'module' type update, where in fact it was an update to the core itself (necessitating a fresh install). Thanks for info; that clears it up nicely!
