MaskGen - full star on subsequent executes
« on: 2019 December 10 13:43:22 »
MaskGen is a really great script (thank you Herbert).   On starting Pixinsight the 1st time I run MaskGen the "Mask Magnitude Range" min/max values produce the required star mask.  If I run it more than once, no matter what values I put into min / max for "Mask Magnitude Range" I get a full star field mask.   If I close Pixinsight down and reopen MaskGen again works flawlessley untiil I want to run it again.... same issue .... full star field.

Hi Ian!

All scripts on my website are by Hartmut Bornemann(!) -  I only provide the website.

With my version of PI the script works fine - see video:

win10 pro, PI 1.8.8.2

Best regards!

Hi Ian

i found i solved my problem (unrelated, but maybe related?) by investigating the temp files.

i found it created two temp files, the second was empty. i deleted the second one and it seemed to fix my problems.

worth a shot?

My apologies......  and thank you Hartmut

Thank you for replying, Herbert.  I am running PI 1.8.8.2 and MaskGen 1.2.4.   The only diference between us is that I am running on a Mac 10.15.1.

Today it is even worse.  I cannont run the script at all.  It returns the following error:

*** Error [000]: /Applications/PixInsight/src/scripts/MaskGen.js, line 988: Error: Critical signal caught (11): Segmentation violation

XXXXXXXXXX  EDIT XXXXXXXXXX
SOLUTION TO ERROR
I think I have solved the error.  I re-ran ImageSolve using defaults and it has not reappeared.

I re-ran MaskGen.  I can now run MaskGen repeatedly but it produces alternating results. See this video...

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I have looked and MaskGen only creates one temp file on my system.
