Cursor Readout Preview Disappears
« on: 2019 March 13 09:35:47 »
Occasionally when working with PI the Cursor Readout Preview will somehow get turned off. It's a bit of a pain to have to navigate several button pushes to turn it back on. I use the preview often to read the RGB values.

Any ideas how to prevent this from happening?

I'm working on a HP laptop running Windows 10 with an i7 processor.

It happens when Dynamic Operation Mode was turned on.

Thanks GJL for the response.

I'm not sure what the Dynamic Operation Mode is, or, how it gets turned on/off. However, while researching about it I found out about the Edit Toolbar which displays a Readout Options icon where I can easily turn the preview back on. So, problem solved.

Thanks for the help.

Steve, I thought you just wanted to know the causes. Of course you can turn the window on again via Edit/Readout Options.
Dynamic Operation Mode is an icon in the toolbar at the top, with a black arrow pointing up to the left, which is replaced by the icon of a dynamic tool (e.g. DynamicBackgroundExtraction, DBE) as long as this tool is active.
I made the experience that the window of the ReadoutPreview disappeared after such a tool and must be recreated again. Could be a bug.

How do you "recreate" the Readout Mode display?

I used DBE, and afterward my Readout Mode data/preview disappeared. I can turn Readout Mode on, and get the box with crosshairs, but no pixel data or preview appears when I hold down the left mouse button. A right-click allows me to turn Readout Mode on and off, but nothing more. I went into Edit->Readout Options, verified my settings, and hit the Apply Global button, but that didn't change anything.

I will appreciate all guidance to restore the Readout Mode to display data and preview.

Thanks.

Never mind -- found it! The secret is to check Show Readout Preview in Edit->Readout Options.

I missed that the prvious four times I opened that dialog.
