Linux startup - script to load process icons?

I recently setup a dual boot machine with Windows and Linux Mint.  On the windows side I have modified the startup.scp script to automatically load my personal process icons.  Is there a way to do this in Linux PI?  Does Linux PI use a startup script?

Update: I found the startup script on the Linux distro and updated the script to include my process icons.  However, I don't know how to grant administrator rights to the folder so that I can put the updated script in the Startup folder.  Obviously I'm new to Linux.  How do I copy the startup script to that folder?
