Photometric Color Calibration Hangs
« on: 2019 February 24 16:34:55 »
In release 1.8.6 the Photometric Color Calibration process consistently hangs at the end of what appears to be a successful execution. The main window goes blank, the superimposed process dialog goes solid white, the wait mouse pointer continues to turn, and nothing else happens. I have let it sit for hours without any change. In some situations I have glimpsed an error message box from the graphics engine just prior to the windows being cleared. There has never been enough time to comprehend the message.

I am running Windows 8.1 on an HP Pavilion laptop with an AMD A6-5200 w/ Radon HD Graphics (4-way) processor. A similar error would consistently occur with release 1.8.5 but at the beginning of the process as it attempted to display the process dialog.

This cannot be reproduced on any supported platform under normal working conditions, and has not been reported before, neither for version 1.8.5 nor for 1.8.6. This is a machine-specific issue.

Make sure you have the latest version of your graphics driver installed. If updating drivers does not help, I recommend you try after a clean operating system reinstall, preferably a clean Windows 10 installation without any vendor provided utilities, or try on a different machine.
