I call it the Balrog Nebula, and, like Gandalf, it has been my nemesis.  This is the best I can do with over 20 hours of data.  I only collected 391 1 mijn lum subs, but I made a super luminance out of 1,348 subs (The LRGB).  What a trial by fire!

FSQ 106 with .6x reducer and ASI 1600 mm cool pro with Astrodon true balance series E filters
Red: 353 60 sec
Green: 302 60 sec
Blue: 302 60 sec
Lum: 391 60 sec

Thanks Greg.  keep at it.  You will get there.  It can be a slow process, but suddenly something will click and you will amaze yourself!

Amazing image.   If you would be so kind, perhaps you could answer a quick question:  For all of those subs, followed by the various calibration frames, what do you think the total amount of disk space was for this image project?   I am wrestling with a rapidly shrinking amount of space on my hard drive and want to plan out more storage but want to calibrate my expectations.

  Thanks Tom.  To answer your question....TOO MUCH!  I had a 3TB external drive that broke, taking all of my data (or most of it) with it.  Now I am left with just the 60-70 GB left on my laptop to work with.  It gets used up pretty fast.   I can no longer keep my raw subs, my calibrated subs, my SFS chosen subs, and my aligned subs.  I have to delete my raw subs once they are calibrated, then delete those once they are aligned.   I often can't use SFS to measure all my subs and copy the good ones to a folder.  So I write down the subs I want to exclude and manually remove them from the integration tool once it is populated with the aligned subs.   I know this is no help....but I am crippled until I get a flash drive.  To do a data set like this properly, so you don't have to delete anything, you'd need at least 120-150GB to be safe.  Even then.  It's hard to say.  Space is definitely a big consideration

  You will need them unless you have dark skies!  I don't, and the LP wreaks havoc on otherwise decent data.  I could have used twice as much data, but hard drive space is not infinite!  Good luck with this one.

We're in Bortle 6+ skies an hour outside Bangkok. We combat this with taking lots of exposures.

Currently for small objects we are shooting L on 3 telescopes (600mm, 400mm and 400mm), and RGB on our 4-scope 300mm widefield array. We weren't sure about how well the array's color would size up to match the L but in our first experiment it worked pretty well. I'll post the shot of NGC 1637 here in this forum. We lost a night last night to clouds so 1333 is pushed back until at least Sunday night while we complete two other objects over the weekend.

That looks great Andy.  there is nothing like dual (or multiple) scopes for faster data acquisition.  I have been thinking about using my FSQ 106 at 530mm, the TV np101is at 540 mm and the TOA 130 at 700mm.  there is only one tiny little impediment.......I only have 1 mount!

Hahaha, yes you're definitely at a disadvantage with 2 fewer mounts than scopes :-)

We're awaiting one new mount and two side-by-side adapter plates which will convert our two 400mm systems to two dual telescope systems. That will bring our count on property to 9 LOL.
