Superbias
« on: 2018 November 19 04:25:08 »
Hi guys,

Ive recently changed my process im using in pixinsight but i have a couple of questions. Firstly could someone please tell me if my superbias looks about right? first time ive used this process. Also when integrating bias frames the new process has "scale estimator set to standard". My previous process involved setting this to median absolute deviation. Could someone please explain the difference?

Thanks Ken

I have saved it as a jpeg for the purposes of posting but it is also saved as xisf

Set 'Image/Screen Transfer Functions' to 'Use 24-bit STF LUTs' when viewing the Superbias.

However, I read that the Superbias process is not useful for CMOS sensors (Canon 6D is one) without a modification suggested by David Ault (if I remember well). So I doubt that the unmodified Superbias will yield improved calibration results.

I always let 'Scale Estimator' to the default, "Iterative k-sigma / biweight midvariance". The difference between the implementations of scale estimators is described in the documentation about ImageIntegration, 1.4.1, "Scale and Location Estimators" in detail. Press the third icon from the right side at the bottom of the ImageIntegration window in order to display this documentation.
