New  PixInsight  Streaming  Videos  from  Adam  Block  Studios

After  four  years  in  development,  I’m  pleased  to  announce  the  new  Adam  Block  Studios  streaming  video  site,  featuring  two  built-from-ground-up  new  PixInsight  video  courses.

You  can  learn  more  and  see  sample  videos  at         http://AdamBlockStudios.com

There are two main video collections-

PixInsight  Fundamentals  –  These videos represent the core set of knowledge necessary to fully unlock the tools of PI. Mastery of this material will propel you high along the learning curve and give a vantage point to survey the landscape of other possibilities in processing astronomical data.

PixInsight  Horizons  –  Looking farther beyond will lead you to seek out PixInsight Horizons. These videos utilize the tools demonstrated in Fundamentals in creative ways. Though not necessarily more "advanced," many of these demonstrations are multi-step techniques that require in-depth explanations. Full recorded processing sessions from the Studio's data archives as well as customer supplied data sets will be published here. In addition many unique innovations are presented. For example a technique for de-emphasizing stars is shown... and it does not use the standard erosion (Morphological Selection) type method!

So why  is  Adam  Block  Studios  a great option  for  learning  PixInsight?

1. A  comprehensive  (and  growing)  set  of  easy  to  follow  tutorials–  Rather  than  a  library  of  videos  on  every  feature,  Fundamentals  gives  you  the  workflow  and  understanding  you  need  to  master  PixInsight. The lessons are taught, not just simply demonstrated. At the studio we learn not just  which process parameters were used- but more importantly why they were chosen.

2. Workshop  format  –  The  video  content  is  delivered  in  a  conversational  style  while  covering  topics  in  depth...  and  I  am  NOT  kidding.    Yes,  all  of  the  step-by-step  information  is  there-  but  more  powerfully  I  go  to  great  lengths  to  explain  the  "how"  and  "why"  of  the  tools  and  techniques  available  in  PI.    I  believe  strongly  this  approach  will  give  you  a  deeper  knowledge  and  the  ability  to  transfer  your  newfound  PixInsight  skills  to  face difficult image processing challenges.

3. Although the format may be workshop-like, there are many more hours of material for a smaller fee than a typical 2-3 day workshop! You can go at your own pace.

4. Not only is your instructor a highly regarded Astrophotographer known worldwide   –  I  was  talked  into  adding this –  but  he also receives accolades for both his public speaking and tutorial courseware. His images are considered referential by amateur and professional astronomers alike.

I  invite  you  to  check  out Adamblockstudios.com and  see the content that is currently there as well as what is to come.  My  style  and  approach  have  helped  thousands  of  imagers  obtain  better  results  technically  and  artistically.    I  never  forgot  the  excitement  of experiencing  PixInsight  for  the  first  time  –  and  it  informs  every  lesson  I  craft.  I  hope  you  will  join  me  in  appreciating  the  unique  power  of  Pixinsight  to  render  beautiful  images  of  the  Universe  from  your  hard-won  data.

Sincerely,
Adam Block

About  Adam:
Adam graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Astronomy and Physics. In 1996 he developed the stargazing public outreach programs at Kitt Peak National Observatory. It was there he first created programs dedicated to astrophotography to be enjoyed by visitors to the observatory. In 2007 he founded the UofA Mount Lemmon SkyCenter which has become a popular destination for astronomy lovers visiting the Southwest USA. He is also on the board of the Advanced Imaging Conference (held in California, USA) as well as a member of the International Association of Astronomical Artists.

Thanks to Pleiades Astrophoto and Juan Conejero for authoring a great software and for permission to post here.

P.S. Below is an image of NGC 5866 I published today. It is featured in several videos in the PI series- especially PI Horizons. Compare with other images of this object to appreciate the kinds of techniques PI permitted me to produce this rendering:

Thanks guys!
This forum has been (and continues to be) super helpful in the construction of content- and the identification of areas of interest/challenge.
Thanks for that.
Rob: It is the "video streams" that I hope people really find impressive. :)

I just want to add my two cents. In February, Adam noticed a post I made about deconvolution, and he messaged me, graciously offering me to review his deconvolution tutorial. I found the tutorial fantastic, providing me with a much deeper understanding of what was actually happening with each component of the deconvolution process. His workflow has sped up my deconvolution, and my results are much, much better. I'm looking forward to checking out his other videos.
