Major problem with BPP
« on: 2018 June 13 14:54:33 »
New and stunning experience to see most recent PI suddenly quit at BPP without warning as if I had never started it.
Happens with images from both my QHY cameras, 163C and 168C after processing hundreds of them.
No way to know what happened since the console is gone.
Tried reinstalling, same result. Win10 machine.

Is this just me ?

Sad without my PI  ;(

You should be able to get some details of the crash with Event Viewer.  Also worth watching the process console to see what is going on when the crash occurs.  If you can find way to reliably reproduce the problem then there's a much better chance of getting it fixed.  It may also suggest some things to try as a workaround.

I'd say you're a isolated case or we would have heard more complaints on the forum.

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Rick for your reply.

I installed the latest version of PI on my laptop, same result !
I also tried different images from my 2 cameras, no joy.

Long time user of PI with hundreds images, that does not exclude a basic operator mistake  :o
It quits after demosaicing the first 4 images on my laptop which has 4 processors, and after 8 images on my main computer which has 8.
There was a major Win 10 update yesterday, so maybe...

How do I access Event Viewer ?

Hi, incredible PI has fatigue syndrome :P
This morning I tried exactly the same files with BPP and it worked perfectly :surprised:

I captured the console image as it was flying over.
No CFA pattern in master dark ?
What is this ?
I make the masters with BPP as well.

That's a little odd.  Could be a race condition or something external to PI.  You only need to worry if it comes back :)

I have no idea about CFA patterns.  I've been a strictly mono guy for a long time, though there's a star party coming up and I might take a DSLR...
