rgb adding lum issues
« on: 2018 June 10 07:21:39 »
All:
Thanks to you all who have offered valuable advice to my previous inquiries! I have encountered a new issue (which is most likely operator error). I have calibrated, integrated, my lights, darks, biases, flats , cropped, star aligned, etc. Followed the 'book' step by step. When I combine my rgb masters, no problem. It's when I add my lum master that perplexes me. I unchecked the rgb, checked the lum, identified my lum master and applied it. The end product is a semi-transparent white frame with stars in the background. I can barely see the stars. I suspect that the issue is with my lum master (?) (my totally uneducated shot in the dark)!
Thanks,
Bill

Have you tried different settings in the transfer functions settings?

A few things:
  - Just to make sure, both images should be already stretched and should not have a Screen Transfer Function applied
  - What image are you applying the LRGBCombination process to?  It sounds like you are doing things correctly, but make sure you are applying the process to the RGB master.
 - Before combining, check the L and RGB images in Histogram Transformation and make sure that the peaks of the histograms for both images are in about the same place - does not need to be exact. If they are close, then the above process should work.
 - You should just leave everything else in the LRGBCombo process at default.

Did that help?
Mike

Thank you for the help! I did not make my lum master non-linear prior to attempting to combine....in my haste to process my first lrgb, I became disorientated in the process... :-\
