When will be macos High Sierra supported?
« on: 2018 April 18 13:23:10 »
Dear all

Is anybody using PixInsight with macOS High Sierra already? It is not listed on the "System Requirements" page, but the next release of macos will probably arrive later this year. Options to upgrade to High Sierra might be removed by then, because Apple changed policy for availability of "older" releases with the advent of High Sierra. Should I stay on "Sierra" forever, or will PixInsight release an officially supported versions for High Sierra anytime soon? I cannot upgrade to high sierra and revert if it doesn't work with PixInsight.

Best, Peter

i am running high sierra 10.13.4 and PI works fine. IIRC the days of programs not running on newer versions of OSX ended way back in the 10.4 days. i don't believe apple have made any substantive changes to core APIs since then.

I run PI on macOS 'High Sierra' without issue as well. Maybe the 'System Requirements' page is out of synch ..

Thanks everyone! Cool, so I can upgrade without beeing to much worried about loosing PixInsight on my laptop. My main workhorse is running Linux. But if I am on the go, having PixInsight ready to use is important to me.

If your workhorse machine is that much more powerful than your laptop, you might consider a free version of Teamviewer to log into the Linux machine from your laptop. I do this so that all preprocessing and stacking is done on the more powerful machine. I can then use my other machines as desired for post-processing in PixInsight.

In the meantime I have done the upgrade to High Sierra, and PixInsight 1.8.5 keeps working without problems! :)
