chromatic noise OSC how to handle
« on: 2018 January 14 11:21:56 »
Hi guys
This is almost 4 hours of dithered data with 10minutes of individual subs at -20 with an ATIK 314l COLOUR camera. After DBE, Neutralisation and colour calibration this is what I get. But I am then stuck as too how to get rid of this chromatic mottling that I see in the background. My next step usually would be to change it to nonlinear state and adjust with curves and do noise reduction, unless you suggest another way.

Hi,

Another way to reduce the noise is to make a copy of your image,  stretch it and use it as a luminance mask before using Multiscale Linear Transformation. I'm curions what is the focal ratio of your scope ?

Well you're tracking and focus look decent, you just need more data to increase the signal to noise ratio.

clear skies,
