CCD experience need help
« on: 2017 December 31 03:08:36 »
Hello
I have just got a atik 314L plus and taken some images. at -20 below ambient with IDAS LP2 filter

With an hour worth of data of NGC 6888 with all calibration frames (darks.bias/flats), I ended up with a lot of pixel noise/colour banding, though I did not do any dithering BUT still its a CCD I should not be getting an image like this. It reminds of of my experience with DSLR. Please advise

Thanks

For one hour total exposure time only it is ok.

The image is only underexposed.
Double the single exposure time  AND  triple the number of exposures and the color noise in the background, because of underexposure, will disappear.

Banding i can see only at the small are near the borders because of stacking, thats normal.
Cant see warm or hot pixel like with an DSLR. NGC688 is a weak object which needs lot of exposure time, than you will be able to  stretch it without getting colornoise visible.
