So far I understand the tooltip hint, the "raw" input hint for ImageCalibration should force that when calibrate CR2 bayer raw files, no debayering is applied.
But when checking the calibrated output files, all files are debayered. If I leave the input hint empty, the output files are not debayered.

I've tried both input and output hint set to "raw", but the files are always debayered.

How should I interpret the input hints? Is this a (documentation) bug?

Hi,

yes, it seems that the documentation was not updated when the hints were refined:

According to
https://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=9559.0 ,

'raw' "selects a set of options to load pure raw data as an RGB color image" whereas

'cfa' "enables the create raw Bayer CFA image option nad implicitly disables the create super-pixels and create raw Bayer RGB image options".

So instead of 'raw' you have to use 'cfa', if you want the not debayered, monochrome CFA image.

I set DSLR_RAW to 'de-Bayer RGB' for some experiments and tried to calibrate a CR2 light frame with an XISF MasterBias. With the input hint 'raw' the result is a raw bayer RGB image (this is not a debayered image!). With the input hint 'cfa' the result is a monochrome CFA image. In my case, it was necessary to additionally include the input hint 'no-auto-flip' also - without that, the error message "Error: Incompatible image geometry" appeared. This seems to be a Canon problem and presumably has nothing tot do with PixInsight.
