NGC300 in Sculptor
« on: 2017 November 06 20:36:19 »
For one reason and another, it's been a lean few months for me in the astroimaging department. This one was taken over several nights in September and October.
See link here http://www.astrobin.com/320390/B/?nc=user and a higher res here https://www.astrobin.com/full/320390/B/

Quite a nice object but low surface brightness. Besides the main galaxy there are at least another 55 other galaxies in the field.
Details:
Telescope: 12.5" Plane wave
Mount: AP900
Camera: FLI 16803 Proline
Exposure: About 11 hours
Processing: PixInsight

Very nice, Geoff!  It's a difficult target.

Thanks Rick.  It was made even more difficult by a stray light artifact in each of my master lights.  See the thumbnail.
