Hi Harry,

I am just watching your H alpha adding video tutorial and there is one thing which really annoying me. In the first pixel math step, you say just use the red channel here, but you add your RGB image there. So to my understanding this is wrong? Or do I miss something? Then I have an addional question, is it normal only to add the H alpha to the red channel? Then I also know, to add it in linear stage, but when should I do the ATrousWavlet Noise Reduction, befor or after it?

Thanks,
Tobias

Hi

I will at video and see if I have it wrong there  :'(  But split your channels and add to the red only

Then recombine and then do your noise reduction

Hey Astronomers :)

I'm  completely new in this hobby  so I've some questions(or more  ^-^ )

I followed this tutorial: http://pixinsight.com/tutorials/master-frames/en.html to step 1: By creating a Masterdark PI gives out 3 Images called: Gray_Integration, Gray_rejection low and Gray_rejection high. Which oh these images is my Masterdark? And analogue which of these images will be my master-bias?
And is this correct?
Darkframe same exposure as a Lightframe?
BIAS-frames less as possible exposure?
Flatframes should be saturated that the peak is in the middle of the graph?

Greetings from germany :D

Hi

The integration will be your new dark frame  :D Rejection high and low are the maps which show you which pixels have been rejected during integration ( outliers as we call them )
Non of these is a bias frame, you need to create one separately, and you are right on the rest

I personally would not create them one at the time and would use the batch processing script as it is far easier  >:D

Kind regards Harry

Thanks. But does the batch processing script work on my PI 1.7?

Kind regards

Eye, eye :D
But you said that i've no Masterbias, but i've made bias and integrated them as shown in the tutorial.
So the integrated frame is my masterbias or isn't it?

Kind regards
Martin

Great one, Harry. I never knew about the readout-mode cursor tracking on the Color Saturation dialog... very handy!

I agree with jlake... that cursor trick is *exactly* what I've been wondering about for a long time! I always figured there was a feature like that, built into that tool, but I could never figure it out. Very handy!

Hi
My Friends

I have been getting a lot of questions lately about my vids, mainly due to the" old look" so as there has been a lot of updates to PI recently and does look very different from a lot of my video's even if the underlying method is the same, I shall redo them all in 1.8 .

So a question for you all , where can I improve , did I miss something ?  and while I am at it what new ones would you like ?

Please do tell

Kind Regards

Harry

Harry

How about Deconvolution, TGV denoise, dynamic PSF, or using some the multichannel synthesis scripts for starters. I have enjoyed what you have done so far Harry!
