Very helpful Harry.  Nice trick of transferring the stars from one image to the other.

Harry:

I've found all of your videos to be 'the best'.  I look forward to future vids.  A sincere thank you,

All the best,
Scott

PS  A newbie vid that shows how to modify the gui colors to use in lower-light environments would be an amazing addition

Hi Harry - first thanks for the comet alignment tut (and the others) but its the comet one I'm having problems with when the comet is near any nebulosity. Against a plain star background there's no problem with stacking the comet data and applying as per you tut to the star background.
When there's nebulosity in the area the stars are removed but the nebulosity is left and of course this is then trailed across the image depending on how far the comet has moved during the series of exposures.
Is there any way of removing the nebulosity from the comet aligned image before continuing with the integration?

Asked this in the general section with some attachments:

Harry.....Thank you...Thank you...Thank you for your tutorials!!  I am a beginner user and just downloaded this program today and in 4 hours of watching your vids and playing around with what you are showing I have learned more then I have trying to use photo shop for 45 days.  I have only made it thru half of them so far and look forward to watching the others and then re-watching them to keep learning and refining how to use and process my images. I wanted to let you know and to let other beginners know that if you are new to this please watch Harry's vids to learn the different parts and aspects of this program. Thanks again!!!

I understand the PI Team is working on a Planetary Module.  That would be a prime target for you when it comes about.

Hey Harry...again thanks for doing the vids to show us newbies how to use and work with pixlnsight.  I do have a request for a new video if you are so inclined to do one.  I have watched all your vids for the newbie but I am confused on where to start and in which order do you go to process and astro photo. I am using the Orion StarShoot G3 Deep space CCd imager to get my images right now (I also bought a Canon 70D DSLR but haven't used it much yet). I use Deeps space stacker to get my images stacked and aligned and then open that image in pixlnsight but from this point I do not understand where to start and in which  order do you go to start processing your pics.  I have your basic "workflow chart" but again I find it a bit confusing and I, personally learn better by watching a vid and following along.  Have you done a video of starting to process and image and then go all the way thru to where you save it? I am going to insert 2 attachments (hope they go thru) of M51 and M106 I processed fumbling my way thru the program. I wanted you to see how far I have progressed using your tips and vids but they still are not clear enough or just not as good as I know they can get.  Thanks again Harry

Hi Mikalovich,

I suspect Harry can fix you right up.

You might also want to post in the General section and see if Jim Morse chimes in.  He has an excellent "Crib Sheet" which he is quick to share.  It's a text document with basic steps 1, 2, 3 .... etc.  It is also extensive with some pretty sophisticated stuff.

Mark

Thanks Mark...I will do that and look for Jim's stuff. I am actually finally starting to get some images but I suspect I am not doing it right lol When I stretch the image with the histogram, the image I see on the desktop is completely white, with no definition or object in it but when I save it to my folder I can see the image and at times it is still dark so I have to stretch it again.  At times I will have to stretch it out 9 times before I get a decent image that I can see, so like I said I susect I am doing something wrong.
