Raw image size differs after opening in Pixinsight
« on: 2017 October 08 08:27:44 »
Hi,

the raws of my Canon 1200da do have an image dimension of 5184x3456.
After opening the file in Pixinsight the Process Console shows 5202x3465. - see screenshots.

Why is this?

The odd number of columns makes it impossible to use the SplitCFA process before cropping alle raws.

Thank you,

Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang,

Your finding has been stated before:
https://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=6292.msg42698#msg42698

5184x3456 us the image dimension that Canon specifies. 5202x3465 is the size that results when dcraw develops the raw file. dcraw (raw file development software from Dave Coffin) is used by Pixinsight when opening a raw file.
I think you have these alternatives, result being the same:
1) convince Dave Coffin, not to use odd image dimensions or
2) crop the image after development to even dimensions.

The ask for removal of the limitation of SplitCFA (image dimensions must be even) was not answered by Juan:
