Possibly your problem is related to this one for Sony files in uncompressed format:
https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/590006-latest-dss-334-still-cannot-work-with-sony-raw-files/
I actually looked into the DCRAW code (which PixInsight uses) and found that it doesn't recognise this newer uncompressed format.
For a long term solution send example uncompressed files to Dave Coffin (the author of DCRAW) so he can support them in the future.
In the short term, either use the usual Sony compressed format for astrophotography or convert your uncompressed raw files to something that PixInsight recognises.

[P.S. I use a Sony A7S for astro and have never experienced any limitations caused by the compression. Unlike the "star eater" spatial filtering which is a HUGE issue for me]
Thanks for the fast reply!
I'll check out the 'cloudy nights link' in a moment.
I'll also look into DCRAW, which image would he want? Just the 3+minute exposures?
I checked the format used, and it is not the 'uncompressed', although those definitely work on the 'other platform'....for whatever reason I had actually switched back to the 'regular' compressed files at some point. If I do decide to use the 'uncompressed files', what/where do I need to go to convert them(what do you use)??
Thanks again Mark! I heard rumors awhile back that the 'star eater' had a partial 'fix', but apparently it is only on the green channel....not sure I'd even call that a halfway fix. Clear skies!!
