LocalNormalization Error
« on: 2017 September 16 07:38:18 »
Hello all,

I have just attempted to use the new LocalNormalization tool while following the following tutorial:

http://www.lightvortexastronomy.com/tutorial-pre-processing-calibrating-and-stacking-images-in-pixinsight.html#Section4

I ran the tool and it was a complete success according to the process console, I put the destination folder to the same as the 'registered' files as suggested in the tutorial.

When attempting to do the final Lights integration, I Add the registered lights, click the 'Add L.Norm Files' button, select the normalization files and click Open

at this point I am presented with the following box, anyone know what this means cos it never loaded the normalization files from what I can see:

Thanks
Paul

Hi,

I can reproduce your error.
You said you added your registered images and then the normalization files. However... check to see if the first set of images you added are from the same set of data that you intending the LN files to refer to. It will give you this error when it tries to match the LN files with the files you loaded and there isn't a match.

(in other words perhaps you opened up data for M82 but the LN files for M51. PI has sticky directories and you might not have noticed which one you were in?)

Adam,
Looks as though I must have loaded the wrong set of lights somehow as after trying again.....It Worked !

It was the correct set of data ie M42 images but I intended to run the LN process on the Registered images, I have a feeling
that maybe I accidently loaded Lights from a previous step like debayer or Cosmetically corrected instead of the Registered
ones.

All good now thanks

Paul

Ah... yes that makes sense (a similar error to what I describe).
The file names need to be an exact match- so your other set of images would likely be off by the suffix added when processing.
This is something I suspect will happen often.

It might be a good idea to have the error be a little more verbose. It isn't that you didn't assign files... you did. It is just that they do not MATCH. So the error could read:

"No LN files have been assigned to images because none were loaded or the files do not match." Something like that I guess.
Error handling is an art in and of itself.
