Pixinsight Opens images in Gray rather than RGB
« on: 2017 August 25 11:38:05 »
Hi
I was having issues with Orientation of my images when I loaded them into Pixinsight and was told to change these to pure raw by going to View, Window explorer, DSLR Raw, Pure Raw.

Now I find my images are open as GRAY not RGB as before, how do I correct this? The previous version 1.8 before the 1.8.5 upgrade worked fine.

see my other post, you need to debayer your images

if you were previously calibrating debayered images in a prior version of PI, well, you were doing it wrong :)

the advantage of the format hints i described is that you can leave DSLR_RAW set to debayer upon opening the image, if you just want to preview a DSLR image. the format hint "raw cfa" will cause ImageCalibration (or ImageIntegration) to open the CR2/NEF files as raw images.

You have me at a disadvantage I don't understand what your telling me. For a year I've worked with version 1.8 with some success now with 1.8.5 I'm having a heap of issues it's spoiling the hobby.

When I go Explorer Windows, Format Explorer, DSLR-Raw, Edit preferences, Raw format preferences, then I have a choice to set up as Pure Raw which opens my images and processes them as GRAY rather than RGB, or do I go De-Bayer RGB click ok. In each of these options you have further options and I'm not sure which need to be ticked for the best result.

I've never had to do all this with version 1.8 but we are where we are, can you help you will need to make it real simple.

I assume you're talking about opening up a single DSLR RAW image?  The "gray" image you're talking about is not really gray, it's the RAW image that has not been debayered.

If you're wanting to open up a colour (debayered) RAW file, click the "de-Bayer RGB" button in "edit preferences" and make sure the "no image flip" output option is unticked.
