After loading the second image, the message appears. I have put together the error message with photoshop - please
see the attached picture.
I am running a HP z820 workstation with 32 cores and 128GB RAM. Memory restrictions shuld not be a problem.
PI 1.8.4 dit not show that problem, it is since the last update to
PI-windows-x64-01.08.05.1352-20170802-c.exe ore
PI-windows-x64-01.08.05.1353-20170809-c.exe.

Hi Klaus,

This is a known issue with ucrtbase.dll, a critical system component (Universal C Runtime) that is causing problems in some Windows machines. Please note that PixInsight is not causing this; it just exposes the problems caused by a wrong system component.

I have just released an update that deploys a valid version of the Microsoft Universal C Runtime Library on the PixInsight 1.8.5 distribution. Please let me know if the update fixes this issue.

Hi Juan,
thankyou for the fast response. I installed the C Runtime update over the weekend. The behaviour changed a bit. Manually loading
images does not show the error again, but loading a project file gives the same error message again. Furtunately the program
continue to work after closing that message.
I you say awrong system component - do you mean SW or HW conponent ?
I am running PI on two HP Workstations a z800 and a z820 and both have the same problem.

regards Klaus

Hi Klaus,

I don't think this is a hardware problem. It might be a defective OpenGL implementation. Do both machines have the same graphics card? Which brand? Can you update graphics drivers?

It could be anything else. An antivirus blocking or messing with file I/O operations, a defective device driver, a virus, a utility software running as a background task (typical problems caused by 'helping' utilities distributed by brands such as Dell), an issue with file permissions on the disk or folders you are working on, another application taking control of folders (this happens frequently when you work on a folder controlled by file sharing and cloud storage applications such as Dropbox), etc. Windows is so obscure that anything is always possible in unexpected and inextricable ways.

Hi Juan,
the z800 has a Nvidia Quadro 6000, the z820 has a Geforce GTX 1060 6GB.
I reinstalled the video drivers and deactivated the Norton Antivirus - same result.
The files are loaded from a local SSD.
But with PI 1.8.4 this dit not happen.
