Newest Image Sh2-101 in Narrowband
« on: 2017 July 09 16:29:51 »
So I have three versions of this nebula and really don't like the SHO way too green version while HSO and HOS show some improvement. I thought there was  a script for creating NB images but all I see is for blending them with Luminance or RGB data. Am I missing something? I simply used Combine Color and assigned accordingly. The mages can be seen here http://www.astral-imaging.com/latest_images.htm Suggestions very welcomed. I haven't done much narrowband imaging although I've had the filters for years. Mostly LRGB and Ha.

Thanks,

Steve

One approach is to use LinearFit to match the data from all three filters (e.g. apply LinearFit with Ha as reference to the Oiii and Sii) then combine with LRGBCombination.  That gives you some initial balance between the filters and should reduce the green if applied to your current data.  BackgroundNeutralization and ColorCalibration (whole image as white reference) are worth trying to see if you like the results.

Once you have an initial combine you can adjust the colour substantially with the Hue curve and other techniques.  I like ColorMask but maybe I'm a little biased  ;)

Thanks Guys,

I'll have a close look. I prefer to stay in PI for the total mage processing when ever possible and this should help.
