Licensing on 2 PC machines
« on: 2017 July 09 08:01:55 »
Hi,

I am not able to activate my license on a second PC machine that I am setting up as a backup to my field PC. Does anyone know if it is by policy or I need to make a reactivation request? I believe I did have a license for this second machine which I have had to rebuild in order to provide more space to windows on my bootcamp.

Thanks

Farzad

Check http://www.pixinsight.com/faq/index.html Section 2. I've always just had to copy my license file to the new machine but it's been a while.

Hi Farzad,

The whole subject of PixInsight Licensing is covered in pretty good detail on the FAQ section link from the PixInsight HomePage.

Fundamentally, other than your account login details for the PixInsight download repositories and your login details for the PixInsight Forum, the most important piece of information that you want to look after is your PixInsight License Key. It is this file - alone - that allows you to freely install PI on any and all of as many machines as you own - obviously on a strictly-enforced 'non-commercial' basis.

Have a look, and get back to us if you are still struggling.
