ImageSolver Script problem
« on: 2017 June 14 23:15:21 »
I've been using the ImageSolver script, and, it has been working well for me.  However, I tried it on the image in the first attachment and, the script just kept running without getting to a result. Increasing the Limit magnitude to 16 didn't help.

The second attachment shows the settings I used in the ImageSolver script.  I double checked the RA and Dec values and they are correct.

Any suggestions?

Hi Steve.

First of all, are you sure of the seed parameters of the script? Please, re-check the coordinates and the resolution of the image.

You can activate the option "Show stars" to check if the script detects well the stars.

You can also change the parameter "Star sensitivity" to get more or less stars and it usually helps to set "Noise reduction" to 1 or 2.

Andrés.

Thanks for the suggestions Andres.

I tried the suggestions, but, am still unable to get the script to solve the image.

If anyone would like to try to solve the image the link below is to the .xisf file of the image.

The attachment below shows the RA and Dec and telescope/camera parameters to use.

Please let me know if you are able to successfully solve this image with the ImageSolver script.

Steve

I used UCAC3 as the catalog and had no problem solving the image. I also used Distortion correction but that is just a habit I have.

Nice Baade's.

Thanks so much Mike - It worked fine for me too.

I never thought of trying a different Catalog. I hope this great tip won't "slip out of my mind".
