Image Integration gives No Data error
« on: 2017 May 21 13:36:34 »
Hello!

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum.  I have a feeling this is an bug.  It may also just be user error.  I'm still a relative novice when it comes to PI.  I recently acquired a ZWO ASI290MC CMOS camera.  I went to attempt to create the Master Bias, but the integration would not happen.  I got this result:

Reading FITS image: 16-bit integers, 3 channel(s), 1936x1096 pixels: done
Computing image statistics: done
20 FITS keywords extracted
20 FITS keywords extracted
MRS noise evaluation: done
20 FITS keywords extracted
*** Error: C:/Users/Tim/Desktop/SharpCap Captures/2017-05-21/Capture/NewBiases/Capture_0001.fits: Zero or insignificant signal detected (empty image?)
<* failed *>

This is definitely not an empty image.  Autostretch confirms it.  I am wondering if there is a recommendation on what to do or if this is actually a bug.

If I need to delete this and move it somewhere else, I'd be happy to.  Thanks!

it could be the noise evaluation not detecting anything, and then the weighting calculation failing due to lack of signal.

for bias frames you should set the normalization to "no normalization" and the weights to "don't care (all weights =1)"

Hi Tim,

As Rob says - and it might be helpful for us if you could upload 2 or 3  images, as well as your ImageIntegration XPSM file to something like a Dropbox folder so that we can get our hands on them and see if there is anything 'amiss'.

Thanks everyone!

I'm apparently just a moron.  I needed to unclick "evaluate noise" under Image Integration.  That would make sense if it was ignoring noise in a bias frame.

Tim,

As I often say, "There's no such thing as 'stupid', rather there are things that have not yet become clear".

Also, think how much you have learned - which you wouldn't have learned if everything had run smoothly!
