Star alignment and Manuel integration problem
« on: 2017 March 28 18:25:24 »
I normally use batch pp with no issues however I have a data set that is kicking me. I have tried manual calibration and integration with similar results, maybe the data is too far " out of whack".

In About 1/2 of the images m51 sits dead center and about 1/2 of the files have m 51 shifted left about  1/4 way off the left edge and up slightly.  Can these be star aligned and integrated into one master?  I use a dslr.

The results I get out of Manuel image integration or batch pp show two m51s. Any suggestions or do you need more details to help? Or just dump 1/2 of the data?

Thanks, Mike.

Hi Mike,

When you run the StarAlign tool, prior to ImageIntegration, do you see any 'error' or 'warning' messages in the ProcessConsole window?

Also, what is the final 'summary' line at the end of the StarAlign process - it should inform you about how many images were successfully aligned, how many failed, etc.
Cheers,

Hi Niall, it shows that all the images aligned successfully.  Almost like it is using some hot pixels to do the alignment - that is just a guess on my part.  I do use bias, darks, and flats.

Mike,
if you want to know, what is detected by StarAlignment use the Working Mode "DetectedStars". If too many hotpixels are detected, try to increase "NoiseScales", "HotpixelRemoval" and "NoiseReduction"

Tobias, you have entered my pixinsight hall of fame along with msmythers who has helped me often.  It is always so easy once someone turns on the lights, frustrated I could not figure that out but it is a results business so happy to move on to the next road block.

worked like a charm.  Thanks!!

Who's Manuel? ;>) Manual- anyway, StarAlignment is much more capable than is its abbreviated version used by the script. If the script fails to register, SA can generally get the job done fine.
