MLT and hpw many layers to use
« on: 2017 January 16 19:00:06 »
HI Gang

Just a question. I was just wondering how many layers are needed in noise reduction with MLT. When my image scale is between 2-3 5 layers seems to work great. I am wondering when the image scale gets really smaller such as 0.82 do you increase the amount of layers because everything stars spread out across more pixels etc. JUST A QUESTION. I have had at least 3 weeks unable to image due to clouds.

If you are unsure how many layers to use I suggest to check your image with the script ExtractWaweletLayers prior to using MLT. It shows you what information is included in which layer.

Hello Tahir

I did check it with a recent image scale of 0.82 and there was some noise into layer 6 so in MLT used my favorite five layers with threshold 5,3,2.5,1.5 and .5 but started at layer 2 and deleted layer 1. So after reset of tool open 6 layers.
