Dark Structures Enhancement Script

I was just introduced to the dark structures enhancement script and my life will never be the same!!  What an awesome tool.  But why can't the script be used when a mask is applied to the image?  When ever I try to use the script with a mask I get 3/4 of the way through and I get an error message in red in the process log.  It is unfortunate because the script does effect the background (not usually an issue unless the script is used aggressively).

Apply the script to a copy then combine with the original using PixelMath and your mask.
