Error message
« on: 2016 September 27 11:01:57 »
Hi!
Performing STF AutoStretch on a 0.8 GB .xisf image (with Canon 700D/calibrated-integrated-drizzled), after some tens of seconds I receive the following error message:
  "Variant::ToDouble():Invalid conversion from invalide type"
and PI does not perform the autostretch.
No error occurs with the same image saved as .fit format (however, it needs tens of seconds or minutes).

I'm using Windows 10 on the following processor: intel core i3 64 bit 2GHz, RAM 4GB

Thank in advance for help.
Giuseppe.

Hi Giuseppe,

4 GB is well below the reasonable minimum amount of RAM required to use PixInsight for real image processing tasks. See the System Requirements page on our corporate website. With such severe memory restrictions and working with relatively large images (0.8 GB), you can expect problems and stability issues, especially on Windows.

The fact that an image has been saved in a particular file format has nothing to do with memory limitations. Once they are loaded in memory, pixels are pixels, irrespective of how they are being stored as disk files.

Finally, a Core i3 processor is also below the reasonable minimum hardware required to use PixInsight. With large images, a slow processor, and little RAM, you cannot expect anything but performance issues.
