4 GB is well below the reasonable minimum amount of RAM required to use PixInsight for real image processing tasks. See the
System Requirements page on our corporate website. With such severe memory restrictions and working with relatively large images (0.8 GB), you can expect problems and stability issues, especially on Windows.
The fact that an image has been saved in a particular file format has nothing to do with memory limitations. Once they are loaded in memory, pixels are pixels, irrespective of how they are being stored as disk files.
Finally, a Core i3 processor is also below the reasonable minimum hardware required to use PixInsight. With large images, a slow processor, and little RAM, you cannot expect anything but performance issues.
