Drizzling introducing artifacts
« on: 2016 September 13 14:28:15 »
I have attached a couple of screen shots comparing the drizzled (3x) version of HA data on the Pelican nebula with the undrizzled version, drizzled is on the right. Drizzling seems to have introduced some artifacts e.g. on the 2nd file you can see flecks to the left of the star. They look like a hot pixel scattered by dithering (?) but why are they visible in the drizzled version and not the undrizzled version? FWIW the image has been generated from 78 x 900 second subs.
TIA for any feedback and suggestions.
Clifford Marcus

We can't help you without the original raw data. These issues are impossible to diagnose by just looking at the final results.

Thanks for the reply, happy to provide original data, how would I go about that?

Clifford,

You can get effects like that if you have the 'Clip low range' and 'Clip high range' ticked in the Pixel Rejection (1) of ImageIntegration.

So if your going to drizzle don't tick those.

Thanks for that, Mike, I have tried that and the artifacts are still there, again in drizzled version, but not undrizzled.... To confirm I have attached a screenshot of the pixel rejection settings...
