Default Save Format
« on: 2016 June 07 07:49:58 »
Hi,

I am having trouble with the default Save As format. PI keeps trying to save in .fits rather than .xisf even though I have the default Save As format set to .xisf.  Every time I go to save it says .fits is a deprecated format  and that I should change to .xisf but I don't seem to be able to set that as the default.

Can anybody advise me on that?

when you say "I have the default Save As format set to .xisf", do you mean that in Global Preferences -> File I/O Settings the box for default save as extension says ".xisf" (no quotes)?

after changing it you have to hit the round "apply global" button at the bottom of the settings pane.

The Default Save As image file extension option (EDIT > Global Preferences > File I/O Settings) is exclusively for newly created images. If an image window has been created by loading an existing file, or if the image has already been saved to a file (modulo the strict file save mode option; see this post), the current format will always be proposed by Save As dialogs.

You can use the BatchFormatConversion script to convert a set of FITS files to XISF in a single operation.
