Subframe Selector Trouble
« on: 2016 March 27 10:51:42 »
I am using the subframe selector script to weight my .CR2 files and output approved FITS with weights.  This is my first time using since a recent update.  I get an error when trying to output the frames.  If I convert .CR2 to FITS first, run the subframe selector script, it will then output the approved file.  I did not have to do this in the past.  Is this a change or something wrong with my script?

Hi Bill,

Sorry for the trouble. The recent .xisf update probably introduced this bug. I will have a fix shortly.

Thanks,
Mike

After doing some digging, I was probably doing the workflow wrong anyway.  Seems that most info I found said it was best to run the script after the frames are calibrated, right before integration.  In that case, I would have the files already converted to xisf or fits during calibration.

So it should work with xisf and carry the weight keyword in the header to use in integration?  Or do I need it to be FITS?

Thanks for the help
Bill

Bill, yes, xisf will carry the weight keyword fine.

The problem here is that you're trying to write a .cr2 file. Raw digital camera formats are read-only.

You should use XISF. The FITS format should not be used anymore to generate new files in PixInsight. It has been deprecated and is only supported for compatibility with existing data.
