Slow Program Startup
« on: 2016 January 24 15:46:00 »
I don't think my computer is particually slow but after the last version update (Windows 64 01.08.04.1195 Ripley) seems most everytime I open PI it gets even slower, sometimes it doesn't appear to be responding at all after the inital splash window. This time I took note and the message said"Creating Component Windows" and sat there for a long time before continuing. Maybe I have a startup option that shouldn't be on and I do have a set of favorite process icons that load on startup but that's the very last thing it does. I don't think this has been the problem. I'm using Win 10 64 Pro with 32GB RAM/1 TB Samsung 850 EVO Pro SSD/i7-2600K CPU rated 3.4 GHz. Any suggestions welcomed.

Thanks,

Steve

I've actually noticed it in the last few releases but cant say for certain what version it started in. I am on Windows 1195 as well.
My wife's PC, with lesser hardware, doesn't do it and our cache/temp directory settings are similar (dedicated SSD drive).
I notice that the PI process stays running for a bit after closing and you cant reopen it until that one clears.
I also noticed that if i manually clear the cache/temp directory, it loads a bit faster but not as fast as my wife's.
So far, I've just chalked it up to be slow java startup times, and it may have started after a java update rather than a PI update but i cant say for certain.
