Green Tint in my Images
« on: 2016 January 10 18:07:11 »
Hello all,

Recently I am experiencing a problem opening RAW files in PixInsight. The images appear with a strong green tint, and the histogram is too stretched. This is a new issue, I have never experienced this before. I am even trying with original light frames files which I have already worked with before with good results. The same light frames now open with this green tint. Something has changed in my PixInsight.

The same files opened in Digital Photo Professional (DPP) from Canon show a normal behavior. The link below show the same image opened in DPP (left) and PixInsight (right).

Note the green tint in PI, and how the Screen Transfer Function is strongly stretched to the left.

Does anybody know what is going on?

unlink the channels in STF. it's pretty normal to have a strong green tint in a RAW file.

having said this you should also check if the file has been debayered. what is the DSLR_RAW module set to? (format explorer, double click DSLR_RAW)

Thank you for your reply, Rob. But the problem is not that. As mentioned, I have been facing this problem only during the last month or so. Before that, the files used to open normally, with a blue background (due to CLS filter). A simple color calibration uses to remove the blue.

I am trying to open original RAW light frames. The histogram is so stretched that the STF does not work, even if I unlink the channels. The CTRL+A produces odd results both with linked or unlinked channels.

And as I said, I have already worked with those files last year. My PIwas ok and they used to open normally. I have the final processed image. But I kept the original RAW light frames and now they appear with that green tint (with linked channels) or with horrible colors (with unlinked channels). the same happens with any new image I take.

Any help?

Thank you!

It worked! Thank you Rob. The problem was that I had the "Create RAW Bayer RGB image" enabled. I enabled that after watching all the tutorials by "Es Muy Simple".
Now everything is back to normal.
