Ripley 1.8.4 jpeg much much darker than 1.8.3

JPEG export under 1.8.4 is very very much darker than it was under 1.8.3.
Are there any tools or techniques to export a useful JPEG from an xisf?

Thanks

Hi ksnedden, I do not see nothing strange when saving in .jpg from a .xisf. Are you sure your image is already stretched?

one issue could be that XISF knows how to save the state of the STF for an image, so if you just applied an STF and thought that the image was actually stretched, the fact that XISF restores the STF when you open the .xisf again reinforces that illusion.

That has got me enough times now. When I save an XISF I do so with the display function unchecked. I tried from the XISF format preferences to change the save with display function but that doesn't seem to work or more likely I'm not setting it correctly. I guess I'm used to seeing a saved linear image look dark when opened. I do like the feature I just wish I could control it on a more global level.

Hi Mike,

To disable embedding of display functions by default:

- Open the File Explorer window.

- Double click the XISF icon on the left side.

- On the XISF Format Preferences dialog, click the Display function check box (Override Embedding Settings section) until it becomes an empty square. Note that these check boxes are tristate: they can be enabled (check mark), disabled (empty), and in "no change" state (concentric square).

- Click the OK button.
