DarkStructureEnhance script
« on: 2008 November 24 18:41:51 »
Hi,

thank you for publishing this useful script! I've been playing with it a bit tonight with an M31 stack I still wasn't happy with. When I run the script on the unprocessed stack it seems to be too aggressive, like "Shooting holes" in the image. It seems to work better for me on a stack I've already stretched with curves and histograms.

Is this to be expected or should I review what I'm doing? Clearly the results matter and in this case speak for themselves but I would like to understand it too :)

Thanks!

For others who didn't get the email about the tutorial, here's the link:

Here's an image of M31 that I enhanced using DSE.

this is expected, DSE must be used in nonlinear images (at least with the default parameters :) ). In our opinion, the best use of the script is after an application of  HDRWTransform, so clearly its application is in nonlinear images,

Hope this helps

Thanks Oriol. I didn't use HDRWTransform but the image wasn't linear anymore. I'm glad my experience matches what you expected :)
