Process Icons on opening PixInsight?
« on: 2015 December 31 09:17:59 »
Hi, one thing I haven't found information about is if it is possible to have a set of user selected process icons to open automatically everytime I launch PI (I have saved them but have to reload them manually everytime I open PI).

One more thing: is there an option to change the direction of the mouse wheel when zooming? I will explain: I have been using Photoshop professionally for nearly 20 years, and I'm used to zooming in by rotating the mouse wheel forward, and zooming out by rotating the mouse wheel backward. In PI it's the opposite, and I keep on zooming out when I want to zoom in! It woud be great if I could change this setting.

Thanks for your help.

Miguel

You need to open your startup script located at (assuming Windows) C:\Program Files\PixInsight\etc\startup.scp with the script editor. If it isn't located on the left side go to View menu and open it from there. Then scroll down to the bottom and insert .open "C:\Fav.xpsm" with the location , in quotes, of where you saved the icons file. That starts with the period. Everything in Italics is as it should be entered except changing for the location you save the file. In this case I named it Fav and it has the extension of .xpsm. It's saved on the root of C drive but could be anywhere. I prefer outside of PI in case of a new version requires an uninstall of the old version. See attached picture of the startup script below:

Hope this helps.

Thanks Steve. Tried it and works perfectly!

Do you have any suggestions regarding the mouse wheel/zoom issue?

Thanks!

Sorry, no. But I suspect you can't change it in PS either.

Miquel

For Windows there is a little stand alone program called 'X-Mouse Button Control' that is available on the web. It can invert the mouse scroll function along with numerous other options. It resides in the system tray where you can enable or disable it quickly or setup 2 different control layers for the mouse scroll. Works great for this purpose.

Mike, excellent, works perfectly! (I have to remember to disable it when using all the rest!)

Thanks very much!
