Calibrating debayered lights?
« on: 2015 September 18 05:09:37 »
Having just bought Pixinsight, I wanted to try to reprocess some wide-field pictures of Orion that I took back in January.

Unfortunately it seems I inadvertently saved the original flats (captured with Nebulosity) in RGB mode.

Is it practical or possible to perform bias frame calibration against those using by greyscale bias frames?

thanks,

Ray

it is possible, but since debayering usually involves interpolation, the results are invalid in the mathematical sense.

i suppose if you can remember what debayering method was used for the flats, if you use that same mode against your bias/darks/lights and then run them through ImageCalibration, you can see if the results seem OK.
