PixInsight on QHD+ Monitor
« on: 2015 September 02 19:51:17 »
Hi,

Any suggestions about how to get PixInsight to size correctly on a QHD+ (3200x1600) monitor?  My new laptop has a very high resolution display and PixInsight icons are extremely small on the screen.

Thanks,

-Jim

Simple answer would be to step down your laptop's resolution to something more fitting for a laptop sized screen.  I am assuming its in the 15" range.  On my 27" desktop I only run at 2560x1440.  I would try running at the next highest resolution above 1920 x 1080 and see if that helps (you need to be above 1920 x 1080 to fit the workspace on the screen).

For what its worth.

Tried reducing screen resolution all the way down to 1280 and the icons still show up as tiny. The PixInsight splash screen also shows up very small and the text is cut off in the window.

Are you using the latest release? It supports high dpi screens.

Just updated and its seems to work much better.  :) Icons are easy to see and I didn't have to "dumb down" my display resolution.

I ended up changing two settings in the Global Preferences/Core UI Resources.  I unchecked Automatic UI scaling and used a UI scaling factor of 1.75.  I determined the factor by trial and error.  The default scaling factor made everything too large.  I didn't change the default font resolution of 100 dpi.

Thanks,

-Jim
