Problem with modify preview command
« on: 2015 October 16 21:25:12 »
I am trying to learn the basics using the online tutorials, specially
http://www.pixinsight.com.ar/es/docs/110/pixinsight-modify-preview-2.html
I have an open image with a preview existing.  when I try the operation shown in the tutorial, it opens the "preview properties" window as in the tutorial, it allows me to change a value in the window, but when I click OK, nothing happens.  Pixinsight is hung at that point.  Any attempt to click on anything else, anywhere, results in the bell sound.  I can click on OK or Cancel to my heart's content (no bell sound for those), but only way to recover is to use Windows Task Manager to End Process on Pixinsight.  Not a very clean way to exit.

I have running Windows 7 home premium 64bit edition, with all latest updates.
Pixinsight version is 01.08.04.1170 and it says I have all updates installed.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,
James

I have found that ALT-F4 will close the "Preview Properties" window without resorting to Task Manager.

Still, the window does not behave for me as shown in the tutorial linked in my original post.
So the question remains, what am I doing wrong?

James

You are using an old version. You probably need to update to the latest, 1185 . I just tried the preview modify on my system without issues. I'm running Windows 7 64 also but 01.08.04.1185

How do I get that version?  If I open PixInsight and go to Resources, then Updates, the check for updates, it replies:

There are no updates currently available for your PixInsight installation

Usually if updates for available, I am informed of them when I open pixinsight.  I am getting no messages about updates available.

I guess I need to go directly to the download page on the website and get a completely new version.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Thanks Mike,

I have 1185 now (along with 5 updates) and the modify preview works.

This is my first time on the forum, and I am impressed.
