PI Update
« on: 2015 August 03 11:20:10 »
I just updated to 1.8.4.  I am fairly new to PI and this is my first major update.  I expected all my personalized settings to be retained after the update but they are all at default again.  In the future is there something I should do to preserve them?  If this was in the update instructions, I missed it.

Sorry, but unfortunately some critical application settings are too different in version 1.8.4, so settings from 1.8.3 cannot be preserved. In the future you can save a Preferences icon (EDIT > Global Preferences) and save it to an xpsm file. You can always load the icon and apply it. However, a drastic change is very unlikely to happen in the coming versions.

Hello......I am running PI on my 2 computers. I just installed the new version 1.8.4 on the computer I don't use as often to see the changes. I noticed that some of the scripts I added from featured scripts were not there, like "color mask", which I really love playing with. I went to featured scripts and I can not find it in there at all. In the old version when I go to featured scripts it is there but not the new one. Are they going to add this back to the featured scripts? Like I said I really like playing with this script and now I don't want to update to the new version on the computer I use the most to process with unless I can add the color mask script back. Should I ignore the update to 1.8.4 on the computer I use the most or will they add this script back to the featured scripts? Was there something wrong with this script to not get included under featured scripts?

See your posting from May. http://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=7751.msg55555#msg55555
I don't think ColorMask is yet part of the normal distribution but I could be wrong. I have not upgraded yet. You should be able to add it like you did in May.

With the update I noticed that the BatchPreprocessing Script no longer retains the names of my Bias, Darks and Flats when I save an icon.  I like to retain the settings and control files... used to do this. Retains output file name and registration target image.

I can't reproduce this problem on Linux and Windows. Bias, dark, flat and light frames are correctly preserved in and restored from process icons generated from the BatchPreprocessing script.

Something funny is going on in my install.  If I save the icon say on subframe selector, I see the "Expression" code in the "Script" window, but if I hit the dark circle, which I think activates the script, the script comes up but without the expression.

Is there a special way to say these Icons?  I used to just drag the triangle to the desktop.

On preprocessing I try to save new icons but it does not retain the file information....

This is a process icon created from the BatchPreprocessing script that does NOT seem to have lines for retaining the Bias, Dark and Flats files retained.

I can't reproduce this problem on Win7 1171. The Script window shows the correct SubframeSelector expressions and target file names. And when I launch the script (yes, Apply Global, the circle), everything appears to be restored properly.

I tried the same experiment with BatchPreprocessing, the same test works fine also.

I am going to reinstall.... hope it is clean.  Program works, but this defect is irritating.

I have done a clean install x 2 and I still cannot save the BPP script with the relevant file names.  There are no lines for the file names in the script.  Are there some settings somewhere that I can remove that might be doing this?  Registry?

Icon from my set up enclosed.
