tried the PP again with some subframes and yes, PixInsight freezes again.
The script completes normally, showing the initial surface.
Clicking that away causes "no response" error, have to kill PI via task manager.
I cannot reproduce this problem with 1.8.4.1171 on Linux, Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. Can you upload a minimal data set where BPP has this behavior on your machine?
Here the link to the created master light
I can open this image (Cygnus Milkyway) without problems with 1.8.4.1171 on any platform. I can also apply STF AutoStretch without any problems, and process it with any tool without any errors.
(242 MB, since xisf all file sizes have doubled...)
Your image has the following geometry:
width = 5496 px
height = 3670 px
Three channels (RGB color space)
Since this is a 32-bit floating point image, we have:
5496x3670x3x4 = 242043840 bytes = 242.044 MB = 230.831 MiB
Your "light-BINNING_1.xisf" file is 242052032 bytes = 230.839 MiB
So, why do you say that XISF duplicates file sizes?
