Retina Display Support
« on: 2015 March 21 22:41:47 »
I've owned PI for a while and have been annoyed with how it isn't easy to edit using my MacBook Pro with Retina Display. Is there something I'm missing or is there any support?

Thanks,
Christopher

Retina Display support, and other high DPI monitors are going to be fully supported in the next releases. Juan is working on this right now.

Hi Christopher,

As Carlos has said, I am working on this (among many other things) right now. A new version of PixInsight with high dpi display support (on all platforms, not just Apple Retina displays) will be available before Summer.

Hi,

During the last months the number of people using high DPI displays has been enormously increased and it's very difficult to work with the complex GUI of PixInsight. I also know that this is a top priority for Juan now. I suspect that it will be also a difficult task because it will need a lot of testing, right now there are a lot of laptop models and operating systems with these displays.

Best regards,
Vicent.

Right now I am refactoring and reimplementing many critical infrastructure components of PixInsight. Automatic support for high dpi screens is one of these tasks.

What I'm doing now is a very complex job where I cannot make any mistakes, and it takes a lot of work and time, so please bear with me. The result will be a faster, more stable and more versatile software platform.

Excellent! I just today picked up my 13-inch MacBook Pro. I plan to get at least one 4K monitor to use for image processing as well. It will take me until Summer to figure out which one. :)
