Northern Cygnus Area
« on: 2014 November 01 19:22:52 »
To all,

I came across some long forgotten images I took of the area around the North America Nebula back in July 2014.  Unfortunately, I can't remember which lens I used.  :(  This is an integration of twenty-eight frames taken with a modified 5D2 at ISO 1600.  Each frame was 160 seconds long.  It was processed with the latest version of PixInsight.  Outside the usual tools, I ran the MorphologicalTransform several times to tone down the immense star-field.  Please, let me know if you see any issues related to color or gradients.

Here's a high resolution version.

Thanks for looking,

Wade

There's got to be at least 40 maybe 50 stars in there! Sweet very wide view.

Fantastic image, nicely processed.
It looks like 35mm lens view.

Steve,

Thanks! PixInsight counted approximately 43,000 stars.  I'm just glad I didn't have to count them.  :)

Zocky,

Just for grins, I solved a single plate using Maxim DL.  It computed a focal length of 90mm.  This jogged my memory too.  The lens was a Pentax 67 90mm f/2.8 stopped down to f/4.5.  Keep in mind, the image was completely processed in PixInsight.

It looks wider than 90 mm. My bad ;)
