binning is a hardware property of some CCDs. when you capture images, if your CCD is 1000x1000 pixels, then a bin 1x1 image will have 1000x1000 pixels. a bin 2x2 image will have 500x500 pixels. four pixels from the sensor are merged into one pixel in the output image. it is a way to lower the read noise and boost the SNR of pixels, at the expense of spatial resolution. your camera control software is where you set the binning.

BPP is just putting BINNING_1 in the filenames just so you know that the subframes the masters came from were bin 1x1. if the input subframes were bin 2x2, it would say BINNING_2 in the filename.

no - DSLRs can not actually be hardware binned due to the color bayer matrix. so they are always "binning 1" or bin 1x1.

I found one file has quarantined by the AV --> PixInsight\bin\7z.exe

This explains the problem you have. The 7z.exe execulable is part of the update system in the Windows version of PixInsight. Without this file, the update system will fail to uncompress update packages, including the latest updates to BPP and other scripts and modules. You need a better AV software.

@juan
Thank you so much.
This pc is belong to the company where I'm working for (corporate pc). I can do nothing since I'm not authorized.
I bought my first DSLR 8 months ago, and I even still learning how to do the regular photography till now. My first night photo was the milky way about 3 months ago and I'm falling in love with AP since then. Without any of astro shop or astro club around me (I live in Bali by the way), I have to learn everything from the internet: telescope, mount, polar alignment, darv alignment, light, dark, flat, integration, calibration, star alignment, etc....arrggghhhhhh that's blow my head off. My dream, someday there will be some beautiful AP photos spreading in the internet taken from this small southern island :(
It's really pain in the butt for me as a newbie without the BPP. But, that is not the end of the world.
I will not give up on PI !!!

Thank you for the PixInsight 1.8.3 Ripley Released.
I just installed it and got the BPP even without running an update., just like the trial copy.
Thank you for updating the commercial installation package.
