Hi all,

it is a big off-topic to PI, but I was wondering if there are any "scientific data's " available to get a rough value how much the moonlight will influence narrowband images for a certain filter a.e. Ha, SII, OIII, bandwidth : 3,5,6... nm Spectrum.

CS and Cheers

I was asking myself this question this AM and felt the O-III is most affected.  This is a rambling discussion that I think supports that observation:

imho -

one can easily take a picture of the moon thru an Ha/OIII/SII filter of almost any bandwidth… so that's an argument that narrowband during moonlight "does not work."

however, i think probably for the same reason that the daytime sky is blue, red moonlight is not scattered very far by the atmosphere. thus Ha and SII are possible during full moon, provided you are pointing "far enough" away from the moon. since the color of OIII is kind of a teal blue, i suppose that the atmosphere does a better job of scattering that moonlight far and wide, making OIII imaging more difficult during the full moon.

Yeah, last night I was collecting some subs on the Soul Nebula and just eyeballing the subs you can see more Harvest Moon effect on the O-III.
