Deconvolution Support Images
« on: 2014 July 08 20:52:27 »
Hi,

I have a quick question concerning support images for deconvolution. When this image is created, does it in any help (or hinder) to binarize the image?
I do not understand the relationship of the brightness values in this image and how it relates to the control of ringing. I understand it is not a mask in the normal sense. In my mind, I have been referring to it as a structural map of features for which ringing would be controlled. Answering the above might help me know whether convolving a support image is desirable (maybe the hard edges should be preserved, maybe not).

Can anyone elaborate on this relationship? Is it conceptually inaccurate to refer to support image as a structure map?

Thanks in advance for any replies!
