PixInsight for microscopy?
« on: 2014 February 21 16:16:22 »
Not sure if this would be considered off-topic (if so, I apologize and the moderator should feel free to move it to the appropriate forum).
I'm wondering if anyone here uses PixInsight to manipulate and analyze fluorescence microscopy images - if so, I would be interested in making contact.
Thanks,
Daniele

I published a paper about that. I used PI to analize calcium waves in the oviduct cells of rats.

This is a very interesting topic. Can you supply a link to your paper? May it possible to analyze standard immunohistochemistry for example for Ki67/MIB-1 or estrogen receptor index? Another interesting application may be measuring DNA content or nuclear anaplasia in cytology specimens.

Best regards,

Kai

Thank you for the link to your interesting paper! A good starting point to analyze microscopic images from pathology and/or cytology seems to be this one http://153.1.200.58:8080/immunoratio/.

Kai

Kai, just a note for "clarification": I wrote a full processing module containing 5 or 6 (don't have it here) to perform calibration and analysis of two filter and one filter fluorescence images. So, even when the standard PI modules may not perform the work you want, creating a new module is a very feasible project. I may even supply part of the code, or work with you in this project to create the needed software. If you read the paper, keep in mind that every step/process in there was performed in PI with those custom processes.
